Dr. P. P. Venugopalan Delivers Faculty Lecture at Fellowship in Clinical Toxicology

Dr. P. P. Venugopalan delivered a focused academic session on “Toxidrome Approach in Clinical Toxicology” for Fellowship students at the The Indian College of Emergency Medicine (TICEM).

In the high-stakes environment of the Emergency Department, early recognition of clinical patterns—toxidromes—remains a life-saving skill, often guiding management even before laboratory results are available. The session explored a structured and systematic approach to identifying key toxidromes, including:

  • Anticholinergic
  • Sympathomimetic
  • Opioid

Emphasis was placed on simplifying complex poisoning scenarios through pattern recognition and clinical reasoning.

The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from fellowship trainees, reinforcing the importance of strengthening core toxicology skills among the next generation of Emergency Medicine specialists.
