Dr. Venugopalan receives special appreciation from AHA leadership for his lifelong dedication to life-saving training. From setting a Guinness World Record in CPR training to pioneering stroke and STEMI care pathways in India, his legacy continues to inspire.
Honoured to be Part of a Life-Saving Legacy
Since 2005, my journey with the American Heart Association—as an ACLS instructor, coordinator, and regional faculty—has been incredibly fulfilling.
In 2019, I was proud to help train 28,564 school children in hands-only CPR in 8 hours, setting a Guinness World Record. I also helped establish the first ASLS training centre in Calicut.
More recently, I played a role in helping Aster MIMS become India’s first AHA-accredited hospital for stroke and STEMI care.
I’m deeply honoured to receive a special appreciation from AHA leadership—dedicated to my incredible team and every lifesaver making a difference.

“Honoured to receive the Asianet Healthcare Award 2025 – Special Jury Mention in the Lifetime Achievement category. It’s a moment of pride and joy for me. What makes it even more special is that the Lifetime Achievement Award itself goes to my mentor, Prof. M. R. Rajagopal.”
